Similar. Related. Hey everyone, pretty new to reddit, so bear with me if I'm posting this in the wrong place or asking for something ridiculous. I'm looking to start shooting with the Visioncolor and Visiontech picture styles on my 70D. I've tried Cinestyle, but have found that I'm not a huge fan for a number of reasons, but primarily because I think for my needs, it's a bit too flat. It seems as though visioncolor's website is either going through some updates or overhauls or something and I'd really like to get them ASAP. Anyone on here have them and would be willing to send them my way?
Also any other information that any of you might have as far as applying Visioncolors Osiris or Impulz LUT's to footage taken with either the Visioncolor or Visiontech profile that you think I would find helpful would be much appreciated. I don't spend a ton of time on color correction or grading so I'm essentially looking to either be able to apply a LUT or color correction quickly that doesn't require a ton of changing individual settings. Anything is appreciated!
Use LUTS to quickly get a cinematic look in a variety of editing and grading apps. In this post we’ll take a look at some LUTs (look up tables) and how they can enhance the look of your video footage in post production.
Vision Color makes ($49), a collection of 9 Film Emulation 3DLUTs designed for digital video (footage from Alexa, RED, BMCC, DSLR’s). Check out some impressive applications of these LUTs here: What does a LUT do?
To quote VisionColor “By remapping existing scene colors based on digitally and photochemically treated print film stocks by Fuji and Kodak, the OSIRIS LUTs offer a wide range of well known and established cinematic film looks that can be time consuming and complicated to recreate even with advanced color grading software”. Like many LUTs, the Osiris pack will work in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Resolve, SpeedGrade, and FCP 7 (see the full list under System Requirements ). There is a quick start video on using them in Resolve or SpeedGrade These LUTs are available in REC 709 and LOG versions. The suggested workflow is to apply the LUTs in post production between your primary and secondary corrections (primary corrections LUT secondary corrections).
If you are not sure about using REC 709 or LOG, here’s a handy chart to help you out ( click image for larger view): I’m sure some editors/colorists are rolling their eyes and thinking “great, another quick fix”, and I understand that. But for me, LUTs are a useful tool that can quickly help you create a look on tight deadlines and small budgets. Premiere Pro Workflow I recently saw Osiris mentioned by (Color Grading Central), who offers his own free (and paid) color grading tutorials and presets. I figured for $49 it was worth giving it a shot so I downloaded Osiris. If you are using Resolve or SpeedGrade, there is an installer. For other apps like Premiere Pro, you simply create a folder and copy the LUTS. In Premiere Pro, go to the Effects Panel, and type Lumetri.
This will bring up the color correction effect Lumetri (be aware that there is also Lumetri Looks, which is a different feature that uses Speedgrade’s Lumetri Deep Color Engine to create presets). Horizon in the middle of nowhere ii episode 1 english dub. Apply “Lumetri” to a clips(s) or to an adjustment layer (an adjustment layer would allow you to adjust the amount with opacity). Select the LUT you want to use on your system, and click OK.
If you decide later to switch to another LUT, click the “Setup” icon to choose another LUT (highlighted in red): In this example, I used Vision 6 on some footage shot with my Canon 5D MarkII. I used their ($6.99) which they recommend for Canon DSLR’s (their version of the popular ). Camera Original (VisionColor Picture Style): With Vision 6 LUT Applied: I wanted to add some pop to the footage, so I added Curves before the LUT (change the order of Effects in the Effects Controls Panel). To save time I used the free preset “S-curve light”from (download the free pack of ). I was curious about Delta (Black & White LUT) so I compared it to the “Black & White” Effect in Premiere Pro. Black & White Effect in Premiere Pro: With Delta LUT Applied: I also applied the Vision X LUT to some footage shot previously shot with the flat picture style. The footage was a little overexposed so I used the Curves Highlight Roll-Off Preset (free download at ) and darkened the shadows a bit.
Vision Color also has that can be combined with the LUTS to create custom looks. Camera Original (Flat Picture Style): Vison X LUT with “Curves Highlight Roll-Off Preset’: Are you a color grading or video editing pro? As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Is there a picture style I can upload to the camera that will give me that dramatic movie movie look (action movie/dramatic look) straight out of camera? I'd like to shoot some scenes of my friends BMXing but have a real 'inception' style feel to them, a real dramatic look and quality that I assume most would grade to. I'd like to do some straight out of camera if that's possible? Is there a known list of the best picture styles that can be added to canon cameras to give these types of effects? There I'd one called 'cine look' and a few others. They make movies (using that picture mode) look like they have pro graded and your movies have a movies/trailer/cinema style look and feel to them. I just wondered if there were any others?
I think I saw a 300 style one somewhere too IIRC. As I'm not a huge video user, I'd not like to spend to much on plugins (picture styles) that may/may not actually suit my needs. So hoping to find some free or cheap alternatives.

The cinelook one is from here. Are you using Raw and Digital Photo Professional to test out the Custom Picture Styles? That way, you can see immediate changes without needing to upload to your camera and shoot.

You can also toggle to see the difference between the Standard PS and Custom PS on the same shot. You can also play around with WB, saturation and contrast too and see immediate results. Take a regular shot in Raw and then open it with DPP. Press Ctrl+T to bring up Tool Palette and select Raw tab. You'll see the browse button under Picture Style. Click that to select the Custom PS.
